Rescue Equipment Must Haves



Natural phenomena, disasters, these are the situations we cannot stop. It is hard to lose someone over these kind of situations but what we must know is that we can minimize the effect if we are ready and prepared to these kind of disasters. We will never know when it might hit us. And we will never also know if we can even survive or not.

They say it’s better to be robbed than to have your house set on fire. This is very true. We can replace the money, the gadgets or whatever thing that a burglar can take, but we will never take back the life of someone that we love.


Stated earlier, we should be prepared. We might decrease the risk of losing a life if we are ready on any kind of mishaps that might happen most especially when there’s a fire. To help you on preparedness and risk reduction, here are the emergency rescue equipment must haves when there is a catastrophe.

1.     Surgical Face Mask
Of course, surgical face mask is very important.  Some may say it is just medical thingy, but no, it is also an important thing on a survival kit. It will protect you from potential contaminants in the immediate environment as it will create a physical barriers to your now and mouth against the surroundings. Also helpful when there’s a fire. It will help you not breathe in the smoke and ashes.

2.    First Aid Box
First aid kits are very available to schools, offices and even our houses. You should know what to put inside a first aid survival box. To give you an idea, here is the list of items that must be include inside your first aid box.

·         Antiseptic wipes (BZK-based wipes preferred; alcohol-based OK)
·         Antibacterial ointment (e.g., bacitracin)
·         Compound tincture of benzoin (bandage adhesive)
·         Assorted adhesive bandages (fabric preferred)
·         Butterfly bandages / adhesive wound-closure strips
·         Gauze pads (various sizes)
·         Nonstick sterile pads
·         Medical adhesive tape (10 yd. roll, min. 1" width)
·         Blister treatment
·         Ibuprofen / other pain-relief medication
·         Insect sting relief treatment
·         Antihistamine to treat allergic reactions
·         Splinter (fine-point) tweezers
·         Safety pins
·         First-aid manual or information cards
·         Non Contact Thermometer

3.     Eyewash Station
If you are exposed in a hazardous environment or substance, it is very critical. If you delay your treatment even for a few seconds, it may cause serious injury. Eyewash stations and emergency shower provide on-the-spot decontamination of any hazardous substance you are exposed in. Eyewash stations is a very necessary backup to minimize the effects of accident exposure to chemicals.

This items will really help you if you know how to use these things. Of course, there is plenty more equipment that are important for emergency and should be added on this list. It's always better to be ready than not.
